A wedding at Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles feels like taking over a private campus. The hotel sits on 26 wooded acres in Chantilly, with ballrooms large enough for hundreds of guests and rooms upstairs for the whole family. We love it because a three-day Indian wedding can stay in one place.
Our history with this hotel is long. Past Planet DJ events listed on our site include Meera and Rajeev in October 2012, Jasmeet and Romy in September 2013, Dave and Sonia in March 2014, and Supriya and Joe in September 2017. So this guide is written by people who like the building, and it is honest about what you should still confirm with the hotel directly.
About Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles
This is a four-story, 336-room hotel and conference center minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport, on land the hotel describes as "the Virginia woodlands." It was built for big gatherings, and it shows: the hotel's wedding page lists 21 event rooms and 59,538 square feet of event space. A comprehensive renovation announced in October 2023 reached every guest room, the event rooms, the lobby and the public spaces. Six tennis courts and six pickleball courts arrived with it, and Westfields Golf Club is nearby.
The hotel also says plainly what many hotels only imply. Its wedding page names South Asian and Indian weddings among the multicultural celebrations its Marriott Certified Wedding Planners support.

7 reasons we love working at Westfields Marriott
1. The whole wedding can live on one property
An Indian wedding is rarely one event. There is often a mehndi (the henna party), a sangeet (the night of music and dance), the ceremony and a reception. With 336 rooms and more than twenty event spaces under one roof, your grandparents never need a shuttle between events. For us, that means sound and lighting stay close, and the party keeps its momentum from one night to the next.
2. Two very different big rooms
Many hotels give you one large ballroom. Here you get the Grand Dominion at about 9,100 square feet, which seats up to 600, and the Fairfax at about 11,500 square feet, which the hotel charts at 500 banquet and 1,000 reception. The 2023 renovation announcement describes Fairfax as a room with natural light, chandeliers and two adjoining rooms. That gives you a real choice between a classic ballroom and a brighter room with more going on around it.
3. The Rotunda gives cocktail hour its own address
The capacity chart lists a Lower Rotunda at 4,309 square feet and an Upper Rotunda at 3,507 square feet, each with reception capacity in the hundreds. Rooms like these are a gift for an entertainment team. A round room asks for a different lighting idea than a rectangle, and a separate cocktail space means guests walk into the reception to a reveal instead of watching the band set up.
4. Salons that let you shrink the room
The Grand Dominion divides into six salons of about 1,500 square feet, and the Washingtonian and Jeffersonian divide as well. That matters for a sangeet of 150 people. A dance floor feels full and loud in a room sized to the crowd, and it feels empty in a ballroom built for 600. We would much rather light a smaller room well.
5. Terraces for the part of the day that belongs outside
The Sunset Terrace and the 1,500-square-foot Pool Garden Terrace are listed as outdoor ceremony locations, and the page also mentions poolside parties. Outdoor vows need clear speech more than they need volume, so we think about small, well-placed speakers and a wireless microphone for the officiant. The hotel's ceremony fee includes two wireless microphones, which is a helpful start. Ask the hotel about a rain plan early.

6. Woods around you, Dulles close by
Guests flying in from Mumbai, London or Houston land minutes from the hotel, then wake up to trees instead of a highway view. Family who fly in for a long weekend have fewer logistics, and the hotel lists complimentary guest parking for those who drive. An easy arrival does more for the dance floor than people realize. Rested aunties dance longer.
7. Our couples have already shown what these ballrooms can do
This list is not theory for us. Reviews from Westfields couples on our site talk about songs moving between Indian and Western music, lights timed to the music, and, in Jasmeet and Romy's case, an entrance through a fog effect into a fully lit ballroom. A few hundred guests move through a long day here, and a clear, friendly MC keeps that moving too.
"Ateet was awesome in helping us plan and anticipate our needs, and went out of his way to make sure every detail of the planning was in place before the big day. DJ Riz - the best DJ I could have asked for!! Seamless transitions between Eastern and Western songs - exactly… what we wanted! The dance floor stayed packed the entire night!! I also loved that the lights and music were coordinated - the room looked so good!!"

Planning a wedding weekend at Westfields
Here is one way a three-day South Asian wedding could flow. Your planner and the hotel will shape the details.
| When | Event | Spaces to ask about |
|---|---|---|
| Friday afternoon | Mehndi | A Jeffersonian or Grand Dominion salon |
| Friday night | Sangeet | Washingtonian, about 7,600 square feet |
| Saturday morning | Baraat and ceremony | Sunset Terrace, Pool Garden Terrace or a ballroom |
| Saturday evening | Cocktails and reception | Rotunda, then Grand Dominion or Fairfax |
Questions worth bringing to your Marriott planner:
- Where could a baraat (the groom's dancing procession) gather and walk, and are a horse and a dhol drum allowed? Rules on horses, fire and drums vary, so confirm with the venue.
- Is a fire ceremony allowed indoors or on a terrace, and what does the hotel need for it?
- If the ceremony and reception share a room, how long is the flip, and where do guests wait?
- Are outside caterers or specific Indian catering partners permitted?
- What time must music end, and is an after party possible?
- How early can vendors load in on each day of the weekend?

What Planet DJ brings to Westfields
We are a Sterling company, so Chantilly is close to home. We have been playing Indian weddings and fusion weddings in Northern Virginia since 1996, and the job here is usually to give each event of the weekend its own personality.
- DJ and MC: Sound sized to the room, with Bollywood, bhangra and American music mixed for the crowd in front of us, and announcements that keep a long day moving.
- Lighting: Uplighting, monograms and dance floor effects can change a salon for the mehndi and a ballroom for the reception, so the two nights look different.
- Live musicians: A dhol player for the baraat and live musicians for the ceremony or cocktail hour, subject to the hotel's rules.
- Dance floors and photo booth: Add them where the room and your plan call for them.
If Westfields is on your list, tell us your dates and how many events you are planning, and we will check our calendar and talk through the room with you.
Frequently asked questions
How many guests can Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles hold for a wedding?
The hotel says its Grand Dominion Ballroom seats up to 600 wedding guests. Its capacity chart lists the Fairfax at 500 banquet and 1,000 reception, and the Washingtonian at 490 banquet. Those are the hotel's maximum figures. A dance floor, stage and buffet all take space, so ask the catering team for a floor plan at your real guest count.
Does Westfields Marriott host Indian weddings?
Yes. The hotel's wedding page lists support for South Asian and Indian weddings, along with Kosher and other multicultural and religious celebrations, through its Marriott Certified Wedding Planners. Planet DJ has also played weddings there for many years. Ask your planner early about ceremony details such as fire, a baraat and catering.
Can you have an outdoor ceremony at Westfields Marriott?
Yes. The hotel lists the Sunset Terrace and the Pool Garden Terrace as outdoor ceremony locations. Its ceremony fee includes up to two hours of rental space, rehearsal space the day before subject to availability, two wireless microphones, and setup and breakdown. Confirm the indoor backup room when you book, because weather in Northern Virginia can change quickly.
How far is Westfields Marriott from Dulles Airport?
The hotel's 2023 renovation announcement places it minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport, at 14750 Conference Center Drive in Chantilly. That makes it a practical choice for a wedding with many out-of-town guests. Ask the hotel about current airport transportation and whether a room block for your family can be arranged.
